10:45 a.m.- 2011 Atlanta Marathon Press Announcement
Join Tracey Russell, Executive Director of the Atlanta Track Club, as she announces the new date and details for the 2011 Atlanta Marathon event. The Atlanta Marathon was moved off of Thanksgiving Day in order to allow the race organizer to extend the course time limit from five hours to six and a half hours providing the opportunity for runners of all abilities to participate in the event.

11 a.m. – 8 p.m. - Atlanta Half Marathon Health and Fitness Expo
An estimated 12,000 people will attend the two-day Atlanta Half Marathon Health and Fitness Expo. Along with hosting number and T-shirt pick-up for event participants, the Expo will also feature over 30 vendors from the running and fitness industry as well as running seminars. The Atlanta Half Marathon Health and Fitness Expo is free and open to the public.

Wednesday, November 24

Thursday, November 25
7:30 a.m. Atlanta Half Marathon Start – Turner Field
Over 10,000 participants are expected to participate in the 2010 Atlanta Half Marathon. The 2010 event features a new course that starts and finishes on Hank Aaron Drive just outside of Turner Field.
7:45 a.m. Thanksgiving Day 5K Start – Turner Field
The inaugural Thanksgiving Day 5K is expected to reach its capacity of 1,500 runners and walkers. The 3.1 mile course that starts and finishes on Hank Aaron Drive just outside Turner Field will take participants through downtown Atlanta.
8:01 a.m. Approximate finish time for first male 5K finisher.
8:03 a.m. Approximate finish time for first female 5K finisher.
8:35 a.m. Approximate finish time for first male half marathon finisher.
8:45 a.m. Approximate finish time for first female half marathon finisher.
9:45 a.m. Mashed Potato Mile Start – Green Lot, Turner Field
Several hundred children ages 7 to 12 will participate in the Mashed Potato Mile, including metro area youth from the Atlanta Track Club’s Kilometer Kids youth running program. For participants in the Kilometer Kids program, the one mile fun run will be the final mile of their fall training program. The Mashed Potato Mile starts in Turner Field’s Green Lot and ends across the same finish line as the Atlanta Half Marathon and Thanksgiving Day 5K.
9:50 a.m. Drumstick Dash Start – Green Lot, Turner Field
The Drumstick Dash is a new addition to the Thanksgiving Day event. The 50M dash for children 6 and under starts and finishes in Turner Field’s Green Lot.
