The course is a loop, starting
and finishing on Hank Aaron Drive, just north of Turner Field. There is
ample parking at the Stadium. Also, Turner Field is a 15-20 minute walk
from the MARTA train. MARTA costs $2.25. Breeze Cards, while supplies last, will
be on sale at the Expo.
Be aware that after 6 A.M.,
no vehicles will be permitted to drive on Hank Aaron Dr. between Fulton
St. and R.D. Abernathy. Parking lot entrances from alternate streets east
of Hank Aaron Dr. may be utilized.
HALF MARATHON STARTS
AT 7 A.M. SHARP, NOVEMBER 22, 2007.
Take
MARTA
to the start of the Half Marathon!
The Doraville MARTA station
and the Brookhaven MARTA station on the NORTHEAST rail line can provide
ample parking for half-marathoners. After you've parked your car, it's
a short ride to the Chamblee MARTA station, which is a five minute walk
to the race start. (It is possible also to park your car at the Chamblee
MARTA station; however, the parking lot is not large enough to accommodate
all half-marathon runners. Last year, a number of runners parked illegally
in the Chamblee MARTA area; when they returned some hours later, their
cars had been towed.)
The most soothing way to get
to the start, and home from the finish, is to take MARTA. The price is
$2.25 each way. In order to make taking MARTA more convenient, we will
sell MARTA Breeze Cards, while supplies last, at packet pickup at the
InterContinental Hotel Buckhead, 3315 Peachtree Road, Atlanta, GA, (404)
946-9000.
• On race day, MARTA will be operating
on a holiday schedule, and trains will be running every 20 minutes.
• If you park at the Doraville
station, take the train one stop south to Chamblee.
• If you park at the Brookhaven
station, take the train one stop north to Chamblee.
• If you park at Turner Field,
allow 15-20 minutes for the walk to the Five Points MARTA station and board
the NORTHEAST (Doraville) bound train to the Chamblee Station.
We suggest you allow
extra time over what you calculate it will take. Peachtree Road at the
start will be closed to traffic starting at 6:00 a.m. The race begins on
time (7 a.m.), and we'd hate to think of you pulling in on Marta as the
runners are loping off in the other direction.
