Come celebrate women and fitness at the upcoming Atlanta Women's 5K on March 27, 2010. The Atlanta Women's 5K is a 3.1-mile run and walk for women and girls of all ages and abilities and takes place on a scenic course in and around historic Candler Park. The event features special touches such as hand-painted, ceramic awards provide SportsPottery.com, commemorative race T-shirts, team competition for Open, Masters, Grand Masters, Mother-Daughter and Sister-Sister, and every participant receives a flower as they cross the finish line. After the race, join us for the post-race celebration courtesy of Whole Foods Market.There will be exciting giveaways including adidas gear and an entry into the In-Training for Peachtree program and the AJC Peachtree Road Race. There will also be a post-race massage area courtesy of Atlanta School of Massage.
The Atlanta Women's 5K honors Laura Murphy, pioneer and founding member of the Atlanta Track Club Women’s Team as well as one of the first women to serve on the ATC’s Board of Directors. Registration: Registration for the 2010 Atlanta Women's 5K is now closed. Fees: Online registration thru March 13 - $22 Online registration March 14 - March 25 - $27 Mailed in entries postmarked by March 13 - $22 NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION IS AVAILABLE. Number Pick-Up: Race number pick-up will take place on race morning outside of Team Divisions: Team Division sign-up is now closed. Teams of four can compete in one of three divisions: Open Women (under age 40), Masters Women (age 40-49) and Grand Masters Women (50+). All four members on the team will be scored. The Mother/Daughter, and Sister/Sister teams are comprised of two members. Winners of the Mother/Daughter and Sister/Sister divisions will be determined by the top two finishers on each team. Team names and members must be submitted online at by noon on Friday, March 26. Runners may enter only one team competition. Awards: Each entrant will receive an Atlanta Women's 5K short-sleeve technical shirt on race day. In addition, each finisher will receive a flower. Gift cards will be given to the overall individual Open and Masters champions; top 3 Open teams; top 2 Masters teams; top Grand Masters team; top Mother-Daughter team; and top Sister-Sister team. Gift cards will also be given to the top three finishers in the following age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29,3 0-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, and 75+. SportsPottery.com, will also provide hand painted ceramic awards to the Open and Masters Champions, Sister/Sister and Mother/Daughter Teams. The Course: The Atlanta Women’s 5K is a run/walk for women and girls of all abilities. It takes place on a lovely course in and around historic Candler Park. To Get There: Take I-75/85 connector to Exit #249D (North Avenue). Go east on North Avenue approximately 3.2 miles to Oakdale Road. Turn right on Oakdale Road and go approximately .30 miles to McLendon. Turn left on McLendon and the park will be on your left.
Limited street parking is available around the Candler Park neighborhood. Your best bet is to arrive early so you have plenty of time to find a parking space and get your number if you plan on picking it up on race morning. Below are some parking suggestions for the Atlanta Women's 5K:
