ATLANTA – December 31, 2014 -- Atlanta Track Club will hold its 2015 Annual Social on Thursday, January 8 at 6:30 p.m. at The Foundry at Puritan Mill in Atlanta. The evening will feature hors d’oeuvres, drinks, desserts and a live and silent auction to benefit Atlanta Track Club’s youth running program, Kilometer Kids. Launched in 2007, with a focus on inspiring Atlanta youth to achieve health and fitness through a fun and supportive running program, Kilometer Kids is designed to empower children with the knowledge they need to make smart lifestyles choices, and now impacts more than 5,000 children each year in the Atlanta region and beyond.
Olympic Medalist and American Record Holder Deena Kastor will serve as the guest speaker for the event. Kastor won a bronze medal in the 2004 Olympic Games Marathon. She also holds the U.S. record in the marathon and half marathon, as well as the world masters half marathon record. Her other accomplishments include competing in the 10,000 meter race at the 2000 Olympic finals and qualifying for the 2008 Olympic Marathon.
