Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is proud to be a partner of the 2012 AJC Peachtree Jr that provides a positive example of what it means to get active and be Strong4Life! Last year, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta launched Strong4Life, a statewide effort to help families in Georgia take simple steps to improve their health and combat the rising trend of childhood obesity.
Did you know that Georgia has the second highest childhood obesity rate in the country and nearly 40% of Georgia's children are overweight or obese? Children who are overweight are now suffering from diseases once seen only in adults, such as hypertension, liver and kidney disease and Type 2 diabetes.
Strong4Life includes the largest public awareness campaign on childhood obesity and wellness to ever hit Georgia, along with programs, partnerships and clinical intervention to help and support kids when and where they need it. Thousands of kids and families are participating in Strong4Life school, provider, early childcare, and summer camp programs and we’re making an tremendous impact in their lives.

T-Shirt Design Contest:
Just like the AJC Peachtree Road Race, the AJC Peachtree Jr. will host a contest for the 2012 T-shirt design. The design contest is open to children 7-12, and all T-shirt design entries must be received by Friday, April 27. The winning artist will be invited to be on hand at the AJC Peachtree Jr. to autograph his/her design for the runners who earn the shirt. The winner will also reveice extra copies of their winning shirt. Click here for more info.
