Why are you asking people to submit a finish time from a past race for the 2010 Peachtree?
To help ease congestion at the start as well as along the course, start waves will be organized based on performance instead of randomly assigned as in years past. Having a finish time from a past race will help us assign participants to the appropriate start waves.
Do I need to submit a finish time from a past race in order to register for the AJC Peachtree Road Race 2010?
No, you do not need to submit a finish time from a past race. Those that do not submit a finish time during registration will be randomly placed in one of the last start waves.
Keep in mind, if you finished the 2009 Peachtree, you can submit that time upon registering for this year’s event.
I haven’t run a race within the last two years, what should I do?
If you haven’t participated in a running event since January 1, 2009, you can participate in a 5K, 5M/8K, 10K, 15K, 10M or 13.1M event run on a USATF certified course between now and March 20, 2010 and submit that finish time upon registering on March 21. View time standards for top-seed and sub-seed through open start waves. A full listing of Atlanta-area running events can be found at atlantatrackclub.org/calendar. All submitted race times will be verified by the Atlanta Track Club.
If you aren’t interested in participating in a running event prior to March 20, 2010, you can still register for the event without submitting a finish time. Those that do not submit a finish time during registration will be randomly placed in one of the last start waves.
May I submit my time from the 2009 Peachtree?
Yes, you can submit your time for the 2009 Peachtree. During registration, simply check “yes, I would like to submit my 2009 Peachtree time.”
My next race isn’t until April, may I submit my finish time after registration?
No, all finish times must be submitted at the time of registration, no exceptions. Those that do not submit a finish time upon registering will be randomly placed in one of the last start waves.
What information will I need to have on hand to enter a finish time for 2010 Peachtree start assignments?
Those registering online who wish to submit a finish time from a past race will need to provide the race name, date and net finish time (chip time).
Those filling out the paper application from the AJC for the lottery will need to include printed proof of a finish time with your Peachtree application. Acceptable forms of proof of finish time include - photocopy or the official results card from the race; newspaper results with name and time highlighted (photocopies accepted); or a printout of the results page from the race website with race name, participant name and time highlighted.
