Non-Competitive 3K Run -
9:00 a.m.
For children ages 7 - 12
Piedmont Park, Atlanta

Registration for the AJC Peachtree Jr. 2009 is now closed.

A family favorite for more than 20 years, the AJC Peachtree Junior is designed to offer children age 7-12 the experience, excitement and prestige of the “big” Peachtree under safe, supervised conditions without pressures of competition. The course is completely inside the boundaries of Piedmont Park, and friendly course monitors are stationed all around the course to offer guidance and encouragement. AJC Peachtree Junior is strictly for fun: there are no time limits, results, or awards, and children are grouped by age. By limiting the field to 2,500 entrants, we hope to increase the enjoyment for kids and their parents.

How to Apply

  • Each child will need to be registered separately.
  • $10 per entry through May 15 at 11:59 p.m. / $15 May 16 – May 26 at 11:59 p.m.

  • Paper applications will be accepted until May 22, 2009.*
  • Registration for the AJC Peachtree Jr. 2009 is now closed.  There is no registration on the day of the event.

Directions and Parking

Parking around Piedmont Park is limited, so taking MARTA is highly recommended.  Take the north line to either the Arts Center station and head east toward the park on 14th Street, or exit at the Midtown Station and go east on 10th Street to Piedmont Road and turn left to get to the park entrance.  Additional information regarding MARTA can be found at www.itsmarta.com.

If MARTA is not an option, limited street parking is available in the neighborhoods surrounding Piedmont Park.  Please note that the Park Drive parking lot is no longer open to the public.

The new SAGE parking deck located just off Monroe Drive and Worchester Road is now open.  Visitors can enter the deck on the bottom level via a new tunnel.  The deck has approximately 700 spots available, so it will fill up fast.  There is a $5 charge to park in the SAGE parking deck.  Click here to for driving directions to Piedmont Park.

Please be sure to allow plenty of time for parking and walking to the number pickup area.

Number Pickup

Number pickup will take place on Saturday morning from 7:00 a.m. - 8:15 a.m. near the pavilion and aquatic center in Piedmont Park.  The lines in the number pickup area will be organized alphabetically by the child's last name.  To help keep the lines moving, try to have just one parent / guardian and the participant(s) stand in line.
For those that have friends that are still looking to sign up for AJC Peachtree Jr., please note that registration is now closed, and there will be no registration the morning of the event.

Start Information

The run starts near number pickup next to the tennis courts.  After you pick up your child's number, you will need to take them to the runner assembly area near the start where they will gather by age.  Once in their assembly area, runners can participate in the traditional stretching / warm-up session from 8:30 - 8:45.  Parents and other spectators can watch the start of the run from the hill overlooking the start line.

At 9:00 a.m., the 12-year-olds will start followed by the 11-year-olds, etc.  If siblings of different ages would like to run together, they will need to run in the youngest sibling's age group.

Meeting Up With Your Child After the Event

As runners finish, they will be ushered into the fenced finish area compound.  No spectators - including parents - are allowed in the finish area.  Age group signs will be up on the hill outside the finish area, so please plan on meeting your runner by his / her age group sign.  Click here to see finish area map.
