Due to the current conditions around COVID-19, the 52nd Running of the AJC Peachtree Road Race may be run on two days; July 3 and July 4 to reduce crowds and provide the safest possible race day experience.
The Club has commissioned a COVID-19 task force including epidemiologist and infectious disease experts led by AJC Peachtree Road Race Co-Medical Director, Dr. Jonathan Kim of Emory Healthcare. The task force will regularly meet to assess the current conditions and adjust event safety efforts accordingly. All safety measures are applicable to participants, volunteers, vendors, staff and partners.
Current safety measures include:
- Extended race time
- Limited field
- Smaller start waves
- More time between start waves
- Strict enforcement of face coverings for all in attendance when not running or walking
- Hydration stations along the course will be self-serve
- Post-race gatherings in Piedmont Park including Atlanta Track Club's Member Party will be suspended at this time.
Similar measures will be employed at the Publix Peachtree Health & Fitness Expo and Peachtree Junior. Planning is underway for both of those events.
