Just a few days after her 50th birthday, Sonja Friend Uhl celebrated another momentous occasion after breaking the American Masters 1,500m record (50-54 age group) by more than six seconds with 4:41.21 at the Miami Hurricane Invitational on March 27. Sonja is no stranger to running fast times and has racked up an impressive list of achievements. She was a six-time school record-setting middle distance runner at the College of William and Mary and a member of six U.S. World Championships teams. She has also captured three World Masters Championship titles in the 800m, 1500m, and 5000m and has set Masters world records in the indoor mile (40-45) in 4:44.81 and the 4x400m relay (40-45) in 4:03.72.
