Atlanta Track Club to “Run around the Clock” for Global Running Day

ATLANTA – May 2, 2016 – Atlanta Track Club invites its membership, participants and the entire Atlanta running community to “run around the clock” on Global Running Day. Atlanta Track Club is organizing several initiatives in an effort to have at least one person running from the Atlanta metro area for every hour of Global Running Day on Wednesday, June 1, 2016. The day will kick off with a group run at midnight.

“What began as National Running Day has now grown into Global Running Day, and Atlanta Track Club is excited to show that Atlanta can run with the best cities around the world,” said Rich Kenah, Atlanta Track Club’s executive director. “Whether you lace up for one of our group runs or head out for a run on your own, we encourage everyone to celebrate our sport on June 1.”

Atlanta Track Club is hosting the following initiatives to keep people moving throughout the day on Global Running Day:

• Midnight group run at Atlanta Track Club’s office
• 6 a.m. group run along the Atlanta BeltLine (starts and ends at Historic Fourth Ward Skatepark)
• Noon group run at Atlanta Track Club’s office
• 6 p.m. group run at the All-Metro High School Track & Field Banquet at The Stave Room
• Participants can select their own time to run during the day, post pictures and tag Atlanta Track Club and Global Running Day on social media

In addition to participating in Global Running Day, Atlanta Track Club is supporting the Million Kid Run. Held in conjunction with Global Running Day, the Million Kid Run aims to have one million kids around the world to pledge to run on June 1.

All group runs are free and open to the public. Global Running Day is a celebration of the joys of running designed to share passion for the sport and inspire others to get moving. To learn more about or register for Atlanta Track Club’s Global Running Day initiatives, visit atlantatrackclub.org.
