When is the 2021 Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race returns in 2021 with an in-person and virtual option to be held on July 3 and July 4. Exact start times are to be determined but will be performance based as in the past. Those who wish can also choose to complete the event virtually July 3 - 5.
How much is entry into the 2021 Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race?
Entry into the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race is $38 for members and $45 for non-members who are accepted through the lottery. Entrants can become members at any time prior to entering the AJC Peachtree Road Race to receive guaranteed entry and member pricing.
What COVID-19 Safety Measures are in place?
The Club has commissioned a COVID-19 task force including epidemiologist and infectious disease experts led by AJC Peachtree Road Race Co-Medical Director, Dr. Jonathan Kim of Emory Healthcare. The task force will regularly meet to assess the current conditions and adjust event safety efforts accordingly. All safety measures are applicable to participants, volunteers, vendors, staff and partners.
Current safety measures include:
- Extended race time
- Limited field
- Smaller start waves
- More time between start waves
- Pre-race screenings OR proof of vaccination
- Strict enforcement of masks for all in attendance except when running or walking
- Hydration stations along the course will be self-serve
- Post-race gatherings in Piedmont Park including Atlanta Track Club's Member Party will be suspended at this time.
Similar measures will be employed at the Publix Peachtree Health & Fitness Expo and Peachtree Junior. Planning is underway for both of those events.
What happens if I test positive for COVID-19?
When is Atlanta Track Club member registration for the 2021 Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race?
Member registration is open from March 15 at 6:00 a.m. through 11:59 p.m. on May 1. Members must have an active membership by the time they register in order to receive guaranteed entry into the event. Members can access the registration link from www.ajc.com/peachtree or from their member profile.
When is registration for the 2021 Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race and how does registration for the Peachtree lottery work?
Registration opens March 15 and will remain open until at least May 1.
Participants will be asked to choose their preferred race day during registration
You will fill out the registration form and be asked to provide your credit card information. For those entering the lottery, your credit card will NOT be charged unless your entry is selected.
There is no fee to enter the lottery.
Members and those who purchase a Kilometer Kids Charity Entry will receive a guaranteed spot in the race and their preference of race day.
Participants may enter the lottery only once. To bypass the lottery and secure guaranteed entry for the AJC Peachtree Road Race, join as an Atlanta Track Club member or renew your membership prior to registration.
Is it possible to enter the lottery as a group?
Group registration is not offered in the lottery in 2021. In order for a group to guarantee their entry, they can joining at Atlanta Track Members and take advantage of guaranteed Peachtree registration.
Do I need to submit a proof of result during registration?
During registration event participants will have the opportunity to submit a finish time from a past race run on or after January 1, 2018 on a USATF certified 5K or 10K course during registration, and will be placed in the appropriate start wave based on their time. You will have the option to enter a direct link to your race results, so make sure to look up your past results before registering. All runners and walkers that have participated in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race or another road racing event are encouraged to submit a finish time to receive earlier start wave placement. Those that do not submit a time will be randomly placed in one of the last start waves.
What information will I need to have on hand to enter a finish time for this year's Peachtree start wave placement?
Those who wish to submit a finish time from a past race will need to provide the finish time and a direct link to your results. To find past results from Atlanta Track Club events, visit https://www.atlantatrackclub.org/results.
Will the time I submit for start wave placement be verified?
Yes, all times submitted for start wave placement will be verified by Atlanta Track Club. If your time is not correct , cannot be verified or you do not submit a time, you will be randomly placed in one of the last start waves. Your name in registration must match your name in the results that you submit for verification.
I forgot to submit my start wave placement time during registration. Can I submit my time now?
Yes, just follow the steps below
- Log into your Haku participant account
- Select the "Your Registrations" tab at the top of the page to view all of your upcoming events.
- Click View Registration on your entry for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see the option to input your finish time on the right hand side, Below the social media feed.

Email email@example.com if your address has changed. Virtual race kits will be mailed in June, so you will need to ensure your mailing address is correct by that time.
I am going to run a race just after the registration period ends. May I submit that time after I register?
No, all start wave placement times must be submitted during registration. No times will be accepted or changed once your registration has been submitted.
What is the time frame for completing my 10K if I choose the virtual options?
You must complete your 10K between Saturday, July 3 and 11:59 p.m. on Monday, July 5. Results must be submitted by 11:59 p.m on July 5 via the results submission link provided the week of the event.
Are refunds available?
In the event that the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race cannot be held on July 4 weekend due to COVID, registrants will have the option to move to virtual or receive a refund.
I deferred my 2020 entry to the 2021 Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race. Do I need to register again?
Yes, you will receive a deferral email with a unique registration link the morning of March 15. To take advantage of your deferred entry, complete the 2021 registration form any time from March 15 through May 1 at 11:59 p.m. EST
Do members still receive guaranteed entry?
Members will receive guaranteed entry into the event as long as they are a current member at the time they register for the 2021 event.
What does the virtual experience include?
Virtual Participants will have their race kit including race numbers and finisher's shirts, shipped to them. Each virtual participant will receive information on how to submit their results.
What is the minimum age to run Peachtree?
You must be at least ten years old as of July 3, 2021 to participate in the event.
How will I get my shirt?
In person participants will receive their finisher's shirt at the finish line of the AJC Peachtree Road Race, while virtual participants will receive their shirt with their race kit shipped via UPS.
Will there be shirt exchanges?
Shirt exchanges will be available beginning July 5, 2021.
How will I get my commemorative medal?
If you purchased a commemorative medal during registration you will pick it up at the expo for in-person participants and shipped with your race kit for virtual participants. Additional commemorative medals will be available for purchase at atlantatrackclub.org if they are not sold out during registration.
What if I paid for the mailing option in 2020?
To get the $15 applied back to your credit card, register for the 2021 Peachtree from March 15 through May 1 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. The $15 credit will be applied back to your credit card on file after you submit your registration. (The credit is only good for the 2021 AJC Peachtree Road Race.)
Will there be an elite competition?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race will feature an elite competition with prize money for U.S. athletes only. Details will be announced soon.
How does this impact the Triple Peach Series presented by Mizuno?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race will be the first race of the Triple Peach Series presented by Mizuno. Participants will have the opportunity to register for the Triple Peach which also includes the PNC Atlanta 10 Miler and the Invesco QQQ Thanksgiving Day Half Marathon during registration. There will be virtual options for all three races in the Triple Peach.
Will Peachtree Junior have options as well?
Yes, the Peachtree Junior will be held in-person and virtually on July 2.
I can't run, so I'd like to give my number to a friend. Is that OK?
No, race numbers are non-transferable, unless transferred using the official transfer procedure.
I won't be able to run. What can I do with my number?
You have two options:
- Deferred entry - If you will not be participating in this year's Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race but would like to take part in next year's event, your entry may be deferred. While fees are not waived for next year, a deferred entry does ensure you'll have a spot in next year's Peachtree and will not have to enter the lottery. More details coming soon.
- Race Number Transfer - If for some reason you are unable to participate in this year's Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race you may officially transfer your race number to another non-registered runner. More details coming soon.
Why is there a letter in front of my race number?
The letter in front of your race number indicates the start wave that you have been placed in. For example, if your race number is H76455, that indicates that you have been assigned to start wave H. .
I've lost my number. Can I get a replacement?
Unfortunately, only one number is issued per runner. Lost numbers cannot be replaced under any circumstance. If you still wish to participate, charity numbers are available.
Can I run the race without a race number?
No, you must have an official race number.
Can I sell my race number?
No, the resale of race numbers is prohibited. Numbers worn by unregistered participants are subject to disqualification.
I selected to pick up my number at the Expo, but am unable to pick it up now. Can a friend pick up my number for me?
Yes, if you are unable to pick up your race number at the Peachtree Health and Fitness Expo presented by Publix, your number may be picked up by a third party. However, the person making the pick up must have all of the proper identification and verification documents required. A full list of requirements will be published in mid-May and be in accordance with the current state, local, facility, and CDC COVID-19 guidelines. All mitigation efforts are intended to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
If I get a number through the race number transfer system, can I update my start wave?
No, start waves cannot be changed. You will receive the same number that was issued to the original registrant.
I am entered in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race. When will I receive my race number?
If you selected to race day number pickup you will be able to pick up your number prior to the reporting time for your start wave. More details coming soon. For those that selected to pick up your race number at the Peachtree Health & Fitness Expo presented by Publix , you will receive more information in June on how to pick up your number.
My family has been assigned numbers in different start waves. How can we run together?
If you'd like to run with someone assigned to a different start wave, you may do so by running together in the start wave with the highest number. For example, if your number is in Start Wave A and your friend or family member is in Start Wave L, you may run together in Start Wave L. You may not move to an earlier start wave or different day than what you registered for. The start wave that you are assigned is indicated on your race number.
Are there awards?
Due to the format of the event in 2021, we will not offer age group awards. There will be Top 1000 awards that will be determined after both days of racing take place. Details will be provided soon on how awards will be distributed.
Where is the Peachtree Health & Fitness Expo presented by Publix located?
The 2021 Peachtree Health & Fitness Expo presented by Publix will take place June 26-27 (Saturday and Sunday) and July 1-2 (Thursday and Friday) in Hall C2 of the Georgia World Congress Center. Additional information regarding hours of operation and COVID safety measures will come later this spring.
Do I have to attend the Expo?
As an in-person registrant, If you selected to pick up your number at the Expo during registration, you will need to attend the Peachtree Health & Fitness Expo presented by Publix. If you are unable to attend the expo and the window has passed to switch to race day number pick up, you may have a friend or family member pick up your race number for you at the expo. Please note that if a friend or family member is picking up your race number they will be required to have all of the appropriate identification and verification documents required. A full list of requirements will be published in mid-May and be in accordance with the current state, local, facility, and CDC COVID-19 guidelines. All mitigation efforts are intended to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
Can anyone attend the Expo?
The 2021 AJC Peachtree Road Race Health and Fitness Expo presented by Publix will only be open to registered participants and friends & family accompanied by a registered participant. Please note that all attendees will be subject to COVID-19 screening procedures prior to being admitted into the exhibition hall.
Will the Expo have COVID safety measures?
Yes, Atlanta Track Club will adopt specific policies to ensure the safety of all participants, volunteers and staff. All in attendance will be expected to follow the stated policies. The policies will be created in accordance with state and local law, Center for Disease Control guidance and Georgia World Congress Center rules and regulations. Atlanta Track Club will reserve the right to ask any attendee to leave the venue should they not comply.
What COVID precautions/policies could exist at the Expo?
The policies and precautions for the 2021 Peachtree Expo will be solidified in the coming months and be guided by state and local law, Center for Disease Control guidance and Georgia World Congress Center rules and regulations. Those policies could include, but not be limited to:
Temperature and health screenings prior to admittance
The use of a mask or face covering while in the facility
Maintaining a social distance from other participants
The completion of a health screening questionnaire
Expo by appointment
Please note that these policies and precautions could be strengthened or relaxed in the days and weeks leading up to the event.
What is there to do at the Expo?
The 2021 Peachtree Health & Fitness Expo presented by Publix will focus on safety and efficiency. Participants will be able to retrieve their bib, browse the latest and greatest Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race footwear and apparel by Mizuno and interact with amazing Atlanta Track Club and event sponsors in a safe and socially distant manner. For reasons related to COVID mitigation, the expo will be largely touchless, contain less vendors than years previous and not contain a family fitness zone.
Is water available on the course?
Yes, hydration stations and water sprays will be located along the course. Atlanta Track Club is currently developing a plan that provides fluids in a safe manner. More details coming soon.
Is there a course time limit?
The Peachtree course will officially close at noon.
When does the start line officially close?
The start line closes immediately following the last runner in the last start wave. Unfortunately, we are not able to leave the start line open for additional time.
Is the course closed to traffic?
Yes, the entire 10K course is closed to traffic; however, please be mindful of your surroundings in case of any emergencies.
Are there any items that aren't allowed on the course?
For your safety and that of others, we do not allow the following items on the course: any wheeled conveyance including baby strollers, inline skates, skateboards, bicycles, skateboards, scooters, iPods or mp3 players.
Where can I meet up with my family or friends after the event?
Due to COVID, the finish (Piedmont Park) will be closed to spectators in order to create the safest environment possible for participants and volunteers.
I'm an Atlanta Track Club member. Why was I not placed in an early start wave?
Atlanta Track Club membership does not guarantee special start wave placement. To be fair to everyone, member and non-member, start wave assignments are based on performance.
Is the Peachtree a timed event?
Yes, the AJC Peachtree Road Race is a timed event. All event participants will receive a Chrono-Track B-tag timing tag attached to their race numbers. The tag is activated when you cross the start line mat and stops timing when you cross over the finish line mat. Wear your bib on the front of your shirt and do not cover under any layers such as a fuel belt for accurate timing. If you do not cross the timing mats at the start, you will be disqualified and removed from results.
When will race results be posted?
Unofficial race results will be posted on atlantatrackclub.org and ajc.com/peachtree the evening of July 4. Results inquiries will be accepted for 30 days after the race. At this time the results will be finalized and made official.
Why do the official results show me running slower than the time I recorded on my watch?
The quality of different GPS units can vary, but all of them can be affected by conditions such as buildings or large crowds that can interfere with reception of satellite signals causing them to be inaccurate. The chip time is your official time.
May I run with headphones?
For safety reasons, music players and headphones are strongly discouraged on the course.
Are baby joggers or strollers allowed in the event?
No. For everyone's safety, no wheeled conveyances of any kind are permitted on the course.
Can I bring my backpack?
We recommend that you pack light and leave valuables at home. Participants are not permitted to run/walk with a backpack. Clickhere for a link to our event/program policies.
Are pets allowed in the event?
We're sorry, but pets and wheeled conveyances, including baby joggers or strollers, skateboards, bicycles, and skates, are not permitted on the course.
I am a very slow runner. Can I still run the race?
Runners and walkers of all abilities are welcome. If you're relatively slow, however, you should stay towards the right hand side of the course. Be sure not to stop suddenly or veer into the paths of other runners. If you are running with friends, run no more than two abreast. Doing this will keep traffic on the course moving smoothly.
I am not able to run the race. Can I still get my T-shirt?
The Peachtree shirt is a finisher's shirt. Only those completing the entire race are allowed to receive the Peachtree T-shirt. No exceptions.
How do I get my pictures from the race?
Race photos are handled by MarathonFoto. You will receive an e-mail with a link to pictures of you after the event.
Will there be a shoe this year?
Yes, Mizuno will be releasing the Limited Edition 52nd Peachtree shoe in April and it will be sold at atlantatracklcub.org and at the Peachtree Health & Fitness Expo presented by Publix.
How can I train for this race?
In-Training for Peachtree kicks off April 19 and is an 11-week training program for all levels of participants from walkers and beginners to those aiming to be in the top 1000. There are two in-person, Saturday workout locations: Atlanta Track Club Headquarters and Mansell Road at the Big Creek Greenway. There are seven midweek workout locations throughout the city for your convenience. You can sign up both during race registration and independently. Virtual options are also available.
