Back on My Feet Meaningful Miles 5k
Join us for the Back on My Feet Meaningful Miles 5k race on Saturday, September 13 held on the Northside Beltline Trail around beautiful Bobby Jones Golf Course and Tanyard Creek Park! The race is open to runners, joggers and walkers and provides critical funding to the Back on My Feet program. Bring your local running crew, corporate team, friends and family to this very special event! We look forward to celebrating age group winners, largest team, fastest team and more! Back on My Feet is a national non-profit that uses running, walking, community support, and essential employment and housing resources to help those experiencing homelessness and recovery from substance misuse return to economic independence. In Atlanta, Back on My Feet partners with three large shelters and two residential substance misuse treatment programs for those experiencing homelessness where we recruit members into our program. At each of these five facilities, members and volunteers meet MWF at 5:45 am for Circle Ups. Circle Ups are designed to bring people together and build consistency through running, walking, or jogging 2-3 miles on a regular schedule. In addition to physical health benefits and discipline, members are introduced to an open, welcoming community supported by an incredible group of dedicated volunteers. As a team we participate in numerous community races and volunteer activities. Outside Circle Ups, our members meet with Back on My Feet program staff weekly to create a personalized goal plan to independence where resources to help overcome barriers to employment and housing, such as access to training, work readiness support, job referrals, workforce development, financial literacy and financial assistance are provided.
