The Men’s and Women’s Masters Track & Field team displayed speed, strength and endurance as they competed in 256 events at the 2014 USATF Masters Outdoor Championships in Winston- Salem, NC. At the close of the first day of events, Atlanta Track Club trailed by only 5 points to the ultimate Champion, So Cal Track Club.
Sporting their red Competitive Team singlets, the men and women of Atlanta Track Club scored a combined 824 points, taking second to So Cal Track Club by a difference of only 46 points. It was a total team effort with the M 70 team contributing 58 points to the overall second place finish. A few notable team wins included first place finishes in the 4x800M Relay for W 40-49, W 50- 59, W 60-69 and in the 4x400 Relay for M 35. Standout individual performances like Chad Newton’s 15:45 in the M 40 5000M and Sonja Friend-Uhl’s 4:37 in the W 40 1500M also contributed to the team’s second place accomplishment.
