The Atlanta Track Club (ATC), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to inspiring and engaging the community to achieve health and fitness through running, has named Chris Dierkes as its new Controller. Dierkes brings over 20 years of finance and accounting experience to the ATC with a mix of both nonprofit and corporate finance experience in both large and small company environments. Dierkes relocated from the Boston area in 2011 for the position of Chief Financial Officer at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, where he managed the financial operations, banking and investments, contract management and all internal and external reporting.
“I am very excited to support the Atlanta Track Club organization from a financial leadership perspective,” commented Dierkes. “The ATC’s mission to inspire and engage the community to achieve health and fitness through running is exciting and will enable me to combine my passion for fitness with finance for an organization I truly believe in.”
An avid runner, cyclist and cross country skier, Dierkes has competed in over 60 events during the last 10 years ranging from marathons to several full and half Ironman triathlons throughout North America. After completing the 2011 Atlanta Marathon with a personal best, Dierkes decided to go back to the Ironman distance and will race in Louisville this August.
Dierkes, his wife, son and a Maine Coon cat reside in the Dunwoody area and have fallen in love with the Atlanta weather – but not the endless hills.
