Aiming to increase the level of competition on a traditionally exciting day in Atlanta, Atlanta Track Club will offer prize money at the Atlanta Half Marathon for the first time in the event’s history. Atlanta Track Club announced today a $3,000 prize purse for the half marathon and 5K events which will be held on November 27, 2014. The Atlanta Half Marathon presented by Northside Hospital, is a long-standing Atlanta Thanksgiving Day tradition and provides an opportunity for the whole family to celebrate, with a race distance for everyone.
The overall winning male and female in the half marathon distance will each earn $500. There’s added incentive for Atlanta Track Club members to compete, as the amount awarded to the overall male and female doubles if the winner is also a club member. Prize money will also be awarded for the half marathon distance in the categories of Masters, Grandmasters, Atlanta Track Club Member, Atlanta Track Club Member-Masters and Atlanta Track Club Member- Grandmasters. Eligible participants can earn awards in multiple categories. To be eligible for Atlanta Track Club Member categories, the participant must be a member in good standing prior to November 20.
