Lessons From a Streaker: Two Races. One Weekend. One Big Lesson. 2023 was wild! As cofounder of the National Black Marathoners Association, I headed to the Mississippi Blues Marathon for our annual meet-up. I ran the 10K on Saturday, then hopped a flight back to Atlanta that night to keep my Publix Marathon streak alive on Sunday. 💪 I stayed at a hotel near the start line so I could pick up my race packet at will call and make it to the start on time. But here's the twist: somewhere between airport parking and my one-night stay at the hotel, my car got hit. Exhausted from the weekend, I didn't notice until I got home after the Publix race. After some calls and security footage checks, I learned where the damage happened—thousands of dollars' worth. Thankfully, with the video footage as evidence, the company covered the repairs. I still had to pay the deductible. Lesson learned: Always walk around your car after it's been parked for a while. A quick check can save you a big headache later.

Farthest Traveled to Keep the Streak Alive: One City Marathon → Newport News, VA — the farthest I've traveled to keep my streak. 5K in Atlanta on Saturday, fly to VA, and a half marathon at One City on Sunday.
