
Dr. Tim Hynes
Dr. Tim Hynes is
President Emeritus of Clayton State University. He retired in June of 2021
after serving 12 years as President. Dr. Hynes earned both his undergraduate
degree in mathematics as well as a Ph.D. in communication studies from the
University of Massachusetts. He also received his master's in communication
studies from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Dr. Hynes has served
on multiple boards throughout his career including Chair of the Georgia
Humanities Council, Chair of the Finance Board of the National Communication
Association, Chair and member of the Atlanta Council on Higher Education
(ARCHE), Chair and Member of the Regional Business Coalition (RBC), Chair of
the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce Board, member of the Fayette Chamber of
Commerce Board, and Chair of the PeachBelt Athletic Conference (NCAA D2)
president's Council.
Dr. Hynes has been a member of Atlanta Track
Club since 1997 and has run the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road
Race 23 of the past 24 years. He has completed 27 marathons, including running
the Boston Marathon six times and the TCS New York City Marathon seven times.
Dr. Hynes is a long-time resident of South
Metro Atlanta. He is passionate about running and is enthusiastic about
interacting with the local running community in Metro Atlanta.
