Fall Marathon In-Training is an 18-week program beginning in the summer to prepare participants for a fall marathon. The program will meet at various running locations around Metro Atlanta.

Training will be focused on three popular marathon weekends with separate start dates for each.

  • Group I: Training for marathons the weekend of October 12-13, Saturday practice begins June 15
  • Group II: Training for marathons the weekend of October 26-27, begins June 29
  • Group III: Training for marathons the weekend of November 2-3, begins July 6

Policies

  • The Fall Marathon In-Training program was developed for the intermediate runner/walker (Level II and III) with a goal of completing a marathon within 3-6 hours
  • Training programs are geared toward adult participants 18 and older
  • Course limit paces for the affiliated goal event will be applied to training program sessions. As per Atlanta Track Club event policies, our marathon course time limit is 6 hr 30 minutes, a 15:00 min/mile pace.

Training Schedule

  • Saturday long run locations will rotate based on what week of the month it is. - NO PRACTICE LABOR DAY WEEKEND

    • 1st Week & 5th Week of the Month - Silver Comet Trail (June 29, July 6, Aug 3, Sept 7, Oct 5)
    • 2nd Week of the Month - Atlanta Track Club Headquarters (July 13, Aug 10, Sept 14, Oct 12)
    • 3rd Week of the Month - Optional week each month
    • 4th Week of the Month - Riverside Park, Roswell (June 22, July 27, Aug 24, Sept 28, Oct 26)
  • Wednesday Workout Location: Piedmont Park, Active Oval 6:30 p.m.
