Go Green for Cerebral Palsy Awareness

The Huffman-Greens

Sheri Salter Huffman Green has worked tirelessly for those affected by cerebral palsy (CP) and other special needs students in the Cherokee County, AL school district. She has helped bring specialized equipment into the classrooms where it is needed most. Why does Sheri do this? First and foremost, she has a wonderfully giving heart, but she also has a vested interest in providing for those who do not always receive the tools they need to get an education. Her daughter, Grayson, lives with cerebral palsy, but, through Sheri's diligence, she is provided with additional tools she may not have received otherwise.

Beginning this year proceeds will be collected to start looking for ideas for our special needs young adults in the community. Once they age out of the school system our community has nothing to offer the ones that have different needs. We are looking to start a business run by special needs young adults. We pray this vision becomes a reality. Thank you for supporting cerebral palsy awareness in Cherokee County.

This year will be the 8th year of the Go Green for Grayson Run. Two years ago, we changed locations to Tates Chapel Baptist Church and added a competitive 5k. For the last two years we have had a 10k with awesome finishers' medals, and last year we changed locations to the less arduous, less hilly, chock-full-of-lake-views location of Jake's on the Lake due to COVID-19 restrictions. As always we will provide a 1 mile fun run, walk, or roll for those of all ages and abilities. Other activities will include door prizes, and FOOD!

5k and 10k age group awards will be 1st through 3rd places in 5 year age increments for each gender. Overall trophies will be awarded to the top 3 male and female finishers.

Let's go green for Grayson and our cerebral palsy heroes!!

**Notes: At this time, we ask that all participants, family, etc. wear masks at the start line, finish line, and all other festivities with the exception of the time you are running. We also hope that these restrictions will no longer be needed by September. COVID, GO AWAY!
