A Lasting Impact: The ING Inaugural Marathon was a defining moment for me, it helped me touch, move, and inspire my students long before programs like Kilometer Kids existed. Through that experience, I was able to help my students in DeKalb County, GA improve both their fitness and their academics. I firmly believe that running that inaugural race shaped my approach to teaching lifelong fitness goals and helped mold me into the mentor, coach, and Ironman athlete I am today.

Griffen's "Why:" Being a part of the Atlanta Track Club is deeply meaningful to me. For over 30 years, races such as the Peachtree Road Race and the Publix Marathon have represented my commitment to a healthy lifestyle. These events allow me to show my students that with daily fitness habits and healthy eating, they too can build a lifetime of wellness and one day pass those habits down to their own children.
