Jamie Kohm
Hometown: Marietta, GA
Races Completed: 3 marathons (as 3:40 pacer), 15 half marathons (3 of them as 1:30 pacer), 1 5K
Storytime: My favorite memories of this race come from pacing the 3:40 group with the Phidippides team. Chris Tilton and I would carry the big 3:40 pace sign (the one you discard at the start) the whole way. We would tell stories, jokes and encourage to keep our group pumped up and from overthinking their race. It was a thrill to see so many women qualify for Boston (as 3:40 was the open BQ back then) from our group. I'm still Facebook friends with several people around the country that we paced to a BQ in those years. As for almost breaking my streak. Two years ago I reluctantly switched last minute to the 5K because I found out I had a hernia and was less than 1 week from surgery. I wasn't supposed to be running but I wanted to keep my streak alive.
Honoring the Streak: All of my medals hang in my basement man cave and my numbers are in a box. A couple shirts are some of my favorites and I take them on trips to represent the race on a run in another city or country.
How did you hear about the Inaugural Race? I met Victoria Seahorn through running friends and she invited our Phidippides Team to pace the inaugural event. I signed up to support our team and to socialize.
