Hometown: Johns Creek, GA

Races Completed: 19 half marathons

How it Started: I started running HS XC in 1972 and by the 1990s I was a very good half marathoner. Around 2001 work got very demanding and my running faded to almost nothing. In 2007 I decided it was time to sign up for a half and I picked this one. Training was hard and I found the course very difficult but I enjoyed the experience and decided to do it again the next couple years.

Most Difficult Obstacle: In 2024 I was getting ready to drive to town for the race at about 4:30am when my son called me. He called to tell me he was in Covington and that he hit something on the highway that punctured his radiator. I drove to Covington to get him not knowing if I would make the race. The car got towed and we went straight to the race. I couldn't believe I made it to the start.

Honoring the Accomplishments: I've been running races for 53 years now and I've done a lot of races. I put out all my current calendar year medals and start again on New Year's Day. I wear my 'Tardius, Obesius, Senilius' team T-shirt every year.
