11 State Champions, 15 Returners Highlight 2025 All-Metro Cross Country

ATLANTA - Nov. 21, 2025 - Atlanta Track Club today revealed the 2025 All-Metro Cross Country Team, honoring 42 of the Atlanta region's fastest high school distance runners. This year's team features 11 state champions, 15 returning honorees and one of the fastest 5K performances in Georgia history.

Now in its 61st year, the All-Metro Awards remain Atlanta Track Club's longest-standing tradition. The 2025 team was selected based on performances at the state meet, season bests, major invitational wins and head-to-head results.

"This group isn't just fast, they're rewriting what's possible in Georgia high school cross country," said Rich Kenah, CEO of Atlanta Track Club. "From repeat honorees to first-time champions, they've set new standards, broken old expectations and made it clear that metro Atlanta is one of the country's true proving grounds for young distance talent."

Leading the team is Averi Lowen of Bowdon High School, who turned in one of the most dominant performances in state history. The junior shattered the GHSA State Championship course record with a time of 16:56.12, earning her third consecutive title and securing her spot among the nation's elite high school runners. She is joined by Cameron Collier of Midtown High School, who capped a breakout season that included a victory at the Wingfoot XC Classic and a 4A state title in 16:07.78.

Collier shares All-Metro honors with fellow APS standout Grace Danser of Maynard Jackson High School. Both were crowned APS City Champions before going on to win individual state titles. Danser's decisive win capped a senior season that showed both dominance and grit.

Also among the seniors rising to the occasion at Carrollton High School were Jameson Pifer (Collins Hill High School), who clocked the fastest winning time across all classifications, Andrew Bitsko (Lakeside High School - DeKalb), Landon Jonas (Wesleyan School) and Morgan Huggins (The Mount Vernon School), each of whom ended their high school cross country careers with individual state championships.

The underclassman group was just as impressive. Sophomore Paige Comstock (Harrison High School) and junior Aislynn Dunn (Pope High School) each posted standout seasons that ended with state titles, while Sanders Hearne (Atlanta Classical Academy) earned his first title.

Fifteen athletes return from previous All-Metro teams, led by Mary Nesmith of Marietta High School, now a four-time honoree. Other repeat selections include Lowen, siblings Riley and Paige Comstock (Harrison High School), Pifer, Malachi Burnett (Holy Innocents' Episcopal School) and Danser.

Athletes were selected from the All-Metro eligible area, which includes counties surrounding metro Atlanta. They will be recognized at an invitation-only banquet on December 10 in Midtown Atlanta, where first, second and third teams will be announced, and the evening will culminate with the presentation of the All-Metro Runners of the Year. A full list of honorees is available below.
