2021 POWERADE All-Metro High School Track & Field Team Announced

ATLANTA -- MAY 18, 2021 -- 24 of Georgia's top high school track and field athletes and six relay teams have been named to the 2021 POWERADE All-Metro High School Track & Field Team. The all-star lineup was announced today by Atlanta Track Club. Every member and every team named to this year's group of honorees was crowned a state champion in their respective discipline and classification at the GHSA state meets last week.

Athletes are chosen based not just on state meet performance, but also on season's best performances, consistency throughout the season and head-to-head competition in major events. The athletes must be in good academic standing at their schools.

Carroll County

Kayla Pinkard (Triple Jump), Payton Phillips (Pole Vault), Amare Hall (Long Jump) and Grant Briscoe (Pole Vault) of Carrollton High School all won the GHSA Class 6A State Championship in their respective disciplines. Pinkard (41-6), was the top high school triple jumper in the United States this season. She, Phillips (13-5.5) and Briscoe (16-2) were all the top performers in the state of Georgia in 2021.

Cobb County

Riley Perlakowski (800m), Parker Buchheit (800m), Sully Shelton (3200m) of Harrison High School, Tomisin Adenupe (High Jump) of Walton High School, and Max Herman (discus) of Marietta High School will receive All-Metro honors next month. Perlakowski's state winning time of 2:08.11 was the fastest in the state and eighth fastest in the country this season. Shelton's 8:50.85 at the state meet set a new state record and was the country's 11th fastest time. Harrison's 4x800m girls' relay team which includes Perlakowski was named to the POWERADE All-Metro team. They set a state-best at the state meet with their winning time of 9:22.42. Herman's state meet throw of 169-2 was the fifth best in Georgia this year. Adenupe's jump of 5-6 was tied for fourth in Georgia.

Dekalb County

Janae Profit (Shot put, discus) of Dunwoody High School, Hannah Schemmel (3200m) of St. Pius X and Bradley Favors (400m) of Stephenson High School will receive All-Metro honors next month. Favors season best time of 46.74 is the fastest 400m run by a high school athlete in Georgia in 2021 and the fourth fastest in the United States. Profit's season best throws in the shot put (47-11) and discus (159-8) were the year's top marks in the state as was Schemmel's 10:25.72.

Douglas County

Adaejah Hodge, a freshman from Alexander, won the 6A State Championship the 200m and the long jump. Her state winning time of 23.64 was the top time run by a Georgia high school runner this year. Her winning jump of 19-7 was third best.

Forsyth County

The Denmark High School 4x800m state championship winning time of 7:44.21 is the fastest high school 4x800 run in the country this year. Isaac Osifio, a West Forsyth Senior, lead all high jumpers in the state of Georgia with his season's best jump of 6-11. It is also the eighth best jump in the United States in 2021.

Fulton County

Hannah Minuitti (1600m) of Blessed Trinity, Jessicka Woods (100m Hurdles) of Maynard Jackson High School and Madyson Wilson (300m Hurdles) of Westlake High School were named to the POWERADE All-Metro Girls team. Minutti (4:53.67) and Woods' (13.82) season best times were the top performances in the state in 2021. Wilson's season best (42.22) was Georgia's second best time of the season.

The POWERADE All-Metro Boys team includes Westlake's Malik Mixon who was named to the team in the 110m Hurdles and 300m Hurdles. His season bests of 13.78 and 37.23 were also top times in the state this year. He was the fifth fastest 110m Hurdler in the country. Zack Truitt (1600m) of Landmark Christian ran 4:06.69 this season which was the fastest 1600m run in Georgia and the fifth fastest in the United States.

Alpharetta High School's boys 4x400m relay team won the GHSA Class 7A state meet in state leading time of 3:14.69. It's also the third fastest 4x400 run in the United States in 2021.

Gwinnett County

Tamia Fuller (100m) of Peachtree Ridge High School clocked the fastest 100m in the state of Georgia this year running 11.50. Sydney Harris of Buford High School ran the state's fastest 400m at 53.67. The time was also the 7th fastest in the country in 2021. Buford's 4x400 team was also named to the All-Metro Team as was Greater Atlanta Christian's 4x100. Their state winning time of 45.95 was the fastest in Georgia this year and sixth fastest in the United States.

The boys team will feature another Buford sprinter, Isiah Bond (100m, 200m). Bond lead the state in the 200m with a season's best of 21.05. His 10.48 100m season's best was the third fastest in Georgia this year. Buford's 4x100 relay team which includes Bond is also on this year's All-Metro roster. The team lead the state in 2021 with a 40.95 at the state meet. Dacula High School's Adam Watkins is named to the team in the shot put. Watkins threw 60-11, a state best in 2021.

Henry County

Jasmine Gryne of Woodland High school was the second fastest 300 meter hurdler in Georgia this year. Her 5A winning time of 42.14 was also ranked eighth in the country. She will attend Baylor University in the fall.

The team will be honored at a banquet hosted by Atlanta Track Club in midtown Atlanta on Wednesday, June 9. The Most Outstanding male and female track and Most Outstanding male and female field athletes will also be named at that banquet. Voting opened today for those awards at 11Alive.com and will remain open through 11:59 p.m. on May 24. Votes will be paired with input from coaches to determine the winners who will receive a $1,500 scholarship from Atlanta Track Club.

"The Atlanta area's best high school athletes returned to the track and to the field with focus and intensity in 2021 ," said Rich Kenah, Atlanta Track Club's Executive Director. "We look forward to bringing all these standout young men and women together to celebrate their successes and support their futures."

The POWERADE All-Metro Track & Field Banquet is Atlanta Track Club's longest-running event, returning in 2021 for the 56th time after being canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year's banquet will be held outdoors at Atlanta Track Club to allow for safe social distancing.
