Georgia's Top Track & Field Athletes to Compete Under the Lights

ATLANTA - February 13, 2020 -- Georgia's best high school track and field athletes will go head-to-head under the lights at the inaugural Wingfoot Night of Champions on Friday, May 22. Held on the Spec Towns Track at the University of Georgia, the meet will match state champions from Georgia's eight classifications and the year's top performers against each other to determine the state's best athlete in 14 disciplines.

"The state of Georgia annually produces some of the top times, jumps and throws in the country," said Rich Kenah, Atlanta Track Club's Executive Director. "We expect the level of competition to create an unforgettable moment for the athletes and an exciting night for the fans."

Organized by Atlanta Track Club in partnership with high school track and field coaches from across the state, more than 300 athletes are expected to compete at the Wingfoot Night of Champions. State champions receive guaranteed entry. Remaining spots will be filled by athletes who achieve the meet's qualifying standards. Athletes will represent their school's classification with a commemorative singlet. The winner of each event will receive a limited edition Wingfoot Night of Champions backpack.

Athletes will be announced May 18, immediately following the GHSA Track & Field State Championships. More information on how to register, a tentative meet schedule and travel information can be found here.
