Nico Young To Chase History at Northside Hospital Peachtree Road Race

Eyes First American Victory in an International Field since 1991

ATLANTA - April 10, 2026 - American distance star, Nico Young, will compete in the 57th Running of the Northside Hospital Peachtree Road Race on Saturday, July 4. He enters a race that has historically attracted the world's best endurance athletes to the streets of Atlanta each Independence Day.

Young, who will make his 10K road race debut at the Peachtree, arrives in Atlanta as one of the most accomplished distance runners in American history. The US Olympian and reigning U.S. champion at 10,000 meters on the track, Young has won national titles and set national records at the high school, collegiate and professional levels across distances from 3,000m to 10,000m. He currently holds the American record in the 5,000 meters (12:45.27), set at the Oslo Diamond League in 2025.

"I'm excited to make my road debut at the Peachtree," said Young. "It's a race with so much history, and the chance to compete on that stage, especially on July 4, is so unique. I've heard a lot about the energy of the race, so I'm looking forward to expiring it and competing against a strong field."

The Peachtree has long been one of the most competitive 10K races in the world, previously hosting the USATF 10K Championships and consistently attracting Olympic medalists and global champions. American victories have been rare, with Ed Eyestone's win in 1991 marking the last time a U.S. male athlete topped the podium in a non-USA Championships field.

"Nico is one of the most exciting American distance runners competing today," said Rich Kenah, CEO of Atlanta Track Club and race director of the Peachtree. "As the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary, Atlanta once again takes center stage on July 4. Having an American poised to contend for the win on Peachtree Road will make this moment even more meaningful."

The Northside Hospital Peachtree Road Race is known as the world's largest 10K. As part of this year's theme, "Peachtree Unites," the race continues to bring together athletes and participants from across the country and around the world. With the United States celebrating its 250th anniversary and Atlanta preparing to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the 2026 Peachtree offers a national stage for both competition and community.

Registration for the 57th Running of the Northside Hospital Peachtree Road Race is currently open. Atlanta Track Club members receive guaranteed entry, while non-members must enter the lottery, which remains open through April 21.
