Ragnar Trail Atlanta Event to Benefit Kilometer Kids

Atlanta Track Club announced today a partnership with Ragnar Trail Relays, presented by Salomon, for their first event in the state of Georgia. The new Ragnar Trail Atlanta event will be held April 4-5, 2014.

Through this partnership with Ragnar Events, Atlanta Track Club will receive both financial and in-kind support for its Kilometer Kids youth running initiative. Kilometer Kids is a fun and supportive program aimed at encouraging youth to achieve health and fitness through running. As part of the partnership, Ragnar will donate $100 to Kilometer Kids on behalf of each team that registers for the event at ragnartrail.com/locations/atlanta-ga using the Atlanta Track Club promotional code “RTATC14”.

“When we first learned about Ragnar’s interest in bringing their trail series event to Atlanta, we jumped at the opportunity to partnership with them,” said Sue Payne, Interim Executive Director at Atlanta Track Club.  “Both organizations share similar passions to inspire people to be healthy and fit, and we are grateful for their philanthropic support that will allow so many children throughout metro Atlanta to become more active through Kilometer Kids.”

The two-day, overnight team relay experience will begin at midday on Friday, April 4 with teams finishing Saturday afternoon. It will be hosted at the Georgia International Horse Park, just 45 minutes outside of Atlanta.

Participants will take turns running along three different trails throughout the scenic park, which features more than 15 miles of trails. While one member of the team runs, the other seven members will be setting up camp at the Ragnar Village™. Here, they’ll enjoy food, music and campfires while cheering on their teammates.

“As an organization, Ragnar believes it is incredibly important to support organizations that are committed to making the world more active, especially those that work with children,” said Chris Infurchia, Chief Executive Officer at Ragnar Events LLC. “We’re thrilled to partner with Atlanta Track Club and help people make unforgettable memories running and camping together, while supporting such a worthy cause.”

Ragnar Trail Atlanta is the seventh Ragnar Trail event launched since the inception of the new race series in 2013. Registration is open today and available for teams of eight (regular) or four (ultra). To learn more, visit ragnartrail.com/locations/atlanta-ga.
