Run With Maud 5K Returns to In-Person at a New Location: Shirley Clarke Franklin Park

ATLANTA - August 20, 2025 - The Run With Maud 5K Run/Walk returns to in-person this Saturday, Aug. 23, at Shirley Clarke Franklin Park (formerly Westside Park). All proceeds from the event benefit the Ahmaud Arbery Foundation, which provides mental health resources for Black boys, academic scholarships, youth programming and advocacy for equity and social justice. The annual event honors the life of Ahmaud Arbery, who was murdered in 2020 while running in Brunswick, Georgia.

Registration is open for both in-person and virtual participation here.

"The Run With Maud 5K is more than just a race; it's a powerful demonstration of unity and our

unwavering commitment to justice," said Wanda Cooper-Jones, Arbery's mother and founder of the Ahmaud Arbery Foundation. "Every step taken, whether in Atlanta or virtually, fuels our ability to create meaningful change in communities and honor Ahmaud's memory through action. We invite everyone to join us for a day of purpose, remembrance and community spirit."

Participants can register for $45, which includes a commemorative adidas T-shirt. A $30 option is also available for those who prefer to participate without the shirt.

Race operations and logistics are being managed by runningnerds, an Atlanta-based race production company led by Tes Sobomehin Marshall.

"runningnerds has always been about building community through movement," said Tes Sobomehin Marshall, race director and founder of runningnerds. "Run With Maud is not just a race, it's a chance to honor Ahmaud's legacy and the values he represented. Our work with the Ahmaud Arbery Foundation and Atlanta Track Club empowers connection, healing and lasting impact through in-person running."

Atlanta Track Club, a proud supporter of the event, has stood alongside the Foundation since the race's inception in 2023.

"We are proud to support the Run With Maud 5K as it returns in person, honoring Ahmaud Arbery's legacy in a way that brings people together and reflects the values at the heart of our mission," said Rich Kenah, CEO of Atlanta Track Club. "Atlanta Track Club members will be there as we run to remember Ahmaud and provide needed resources to the Ahmaud Arbery Foundation."
