2014 T-Shirt Design Contest Call For Entries

Local artists and graphic designers have until Friday, February 28 to submit their designs for the 2014 AJC Peachtree Road Race T-shirt Design Contest. A panel of judges representing the Atlanta Track Club, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and local graphic artists will select five finalists from all the entries received by the February 28 deadline. The five finalists’ T-shirt designs will be revealed on ajc.com/peachtree on Saturday, March 15, the same day the online registration lottery opens for the 2014 AJC Peachtree Road Race. The public will have until Wednesday, April 30 to vote for their favorite T-shirt design on ajc.com/peachtree, and the winning design will be unveiled at the 45th running of the AJC Peachtree Road Race on Friday, July 4. Atlanta Track Club, organizer of the AJC Peachtree Road Race, has used the contest to determine the design for the Peachtree finisher’s shirt since 1995.

“The AJC Peachtree Road Race T-shirt Design Contest is a great way to showcase the work of our local artists, and we are always impressed with the entries we receive,” said Sue Payne, Atlanta Track Club’s interim executive director. “The design of the coveted T-shirt is ultimately decided upon by event participants and Peachtree fans, which makes the finish line even more exciting on the Fourth of July.”

The winning 2013 T-shirt design was created by University of West Georgia art education student, Justin Dunbar. Dunbar’s red, white and blue design combined the Atlanta skyline and the image of a peach.

Along with having their design featured on 60,000 AJC Peachtree Road Race T-shirts, the winning artist also receives $1,000, and each of the four runner-ups receives $100 for their efforts.
