Races Completed: 19 half marathons

Favorite Memory: My favorite memory was that running it in 2007, the inaugural year, was my very first half marathon. My family was so supportive that they all (husband and 3 young kiddos) surprised me and showed up at the finish with signs. It was one of my proudest moments and solidified my love for running.

Crazy Story: I "blew out my knee" in early December of 2020 and had surgery a few days later to repair my meniscus. I told my surgeon that I had to heal quickly to be able to run the race - and not break my streak - sometime in March (when it was held virtually due to covid). I did it! Again, not my best race, but I was determined not to break my streak.

Most Difficult Obstacles: My mother in law passed away in January 2017 and her funeral was on March 18th - the day before the race. I, of course, went to the funeral in Michigan and immediately flew home after and went straight to a hotel near the race. I was also very sick with a chest cold. It was not my best race but I was determined not to break my streak. Then, in July 2018, my father in law remarried. Sadly, she passed away in February 2019 and her funeral was on March 16th in Michigan. I did the same thing - flew home immediately after, stayed in a hotel near the race, and ran it on March 17th so as not to break my streak. Thank goodness I have a very supportive family who understood my obsession with not breaking my streak. I also believe my mother in law and step mother in law would have understood.
