2017 Thanksgiving Day Half Marathon & 5K

Kick off your Thanksgiving with the Invesco QQQ Thanksgiving Day Half Marathon, 5K, Mile & Dash. It's an Atlanta tradition! Runners and walkers will earn their turkey as they start their race under Atlanta's iconic Olympic rings. Stick around for a post-race celebration inside Georgia State Stadium. You'll want to bring your medal and your bragging rights to Thanksgiving dinner.

Race Day Registration

Race day registration is not offered for this event. Onsite registration will be available during race number pickup dates/times held prior to event day, unless events are sold out. Pre-race number pickup dates and times are listed below under Additional Information.

Atlanta Track Club intends to hold the Invesco QQQ Thanksgiving Day Half Marathon, 5K, Mile and Dash at GSU Stadium as scheduled on November 25, 2021. If the format of the event moves to virtual ONLY or is cancelled all together, you will be given the option to receive a full refund (less processing fees from registration vendor). If, due to COVD-19, the location of the event has to be changed, refunds will not be provided, but you will be immediately notified via email and social media.

Timing & Results

Unofficial results available online the afternoon of the event. Results are made official approximately two weeks after the event, after all inquires have been processed.

Your timing device for this event is the Chronotrack single use B-tag. In order to receive an accurate time, please confirm your bib is...

  • Clearly visible on the front of the torso
  • Unaltered and unmodified (Do not fold or wrinkle)
  • Pinned in all four corners
  • Not covered (jackets, fuel belts, etc.)

Atlanta Track Club is a member organization of both the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) & USA Track & Field (USATF) and adheres to the guidelines and rules of competition in the events Atlanta Track Club conducts & provides.

Course time limit:

  • Half Marathon: 3 hours and 30 minutes (16 minute per mile pace)
  • 5K: 1 hour and 15 minutes (25 minute per mile pace)

For the safety and enjoyment of all participants, no pets, or wheeled conveyances of any kind, including baby joggers/strollers, roller/inline skates, and bicycles, are permitted on the course. Based on the guidelines released by the CDC on May 13, 2021, Atlanta Track Club has adopted specific policies to ensure the safety of all participants, volunteers, and staff. Atlanta Track Club reserves the right to ask anyone in attendance to leave the venue should they not comply.

  • Attendees who have received the COVID-19 vaccination will not be required to wear a mask.
  • Attendees who are not vaccinated are requested to wear a mask while not running or walking.
  • All participants to bring their own hydration on the course.
  • Attendees are requested to maintain social distancing throughout the duration of the event.

Participants are welcome to send a friend or family member to pick up their number.

Mile & Dash participants have the option to pick up their number at one of the above times, or on race day. Race day number pickup is offered for mile and dash runners ONLY.

Will Call Number Pickup

Must pre-purchase during registration or afterwards by visiting our online store by Sunday, November 21, 2021

Will Call will take place from 5:30 a.m. - 7:15 a.m. race morning in the Will Call tent located in Victory Plaza, just inside the main gates of GSU Stadium (near the ticket windows)

Switching Races

Thanksgiving Day registrants may switch races, if space is available, at race number pickup. No refunds will be issued if you switch from the half marathon to the 5K, and additional fees will apply for those switching from the 5K to the half marathon. Shirts will be provided based on availability to those switching events. Those who switch events on race morning will be disqualified and removed from the results.

Virtual Runners

Those selecting the Virtual Thanksgiving Day Half Marathon, 5K, Mile or Dash race option will be asked to complete their race between Thursday, November 25, 2021 and Sunday, November 28, 2021. Results must be submitted by Monday, November 29, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. Virtual participants will receive a race bib, T-shirt and medal. Virtual participants who register before Tuesday, November 16 at 11:59 p.m. will have their swag items shipped to them prior to event day. Those registering after the deadline will have their race packet sent after the event.

Athletes With Disabilities

In order to serve all our athletes, Atlanta Track Club offers opportunities for Athletes With Disabilities (AWD). If you are an AWD and interested in participating in Thanksgiving Day Half Marathon, 5K and Mile, please email, to discuss what reasonable accommodations can be made based on your specific needs. Atlanta Track Club officials will provide reasonable accommodation to Athletes With Disabilities on an individualized and event by event basis.


Free parking is available at Georgia State Stadium in the Gold, Orange, Green, Blue, Red, Grey and Yellow lots. We strongly encourage all participants carpool and arrive by 6:00 a.m. Parking is drastically reduced this year due to construction. Please reference the start map for location of all area lots.

Atlanta Track Club has once again joined forces with Atlanta Mission for the sixth year in a row in hopes of collecting a ton (literally) of clothing. And this year, you'll have two chances to donate. Here's how:

Race Day

  • Layer up to stay warm before the start, and then donate.
  • Shed your clothes at the starting line or place them in bins found onsite race morning. Clothing will be collected, bagged, washed and then donated.
  • Atlanta Track Club is offering a Will Call option for Thanksgiving Day Half Marathon events. The cost is $20 per entry, and half of these proceeds will be donated to the Atlanta Mission as a part of this initiative. See above "Will Call" section for more details.

Pace leads will run intervals for the 2:45 pace group on. Pace teams will be available for the following finish times:

Free Race Photos

Get official race photos in your inbox moments after you cross the finish line courtesy of Invesco QQQ. Photographers will be on the course and at the finish line capturing your race. You'll also be able to find all of your photos with your results.


Overall awards are based on gun time and overall winners are not eligible for age group awards. Age group awards are based on net time.

Half Marathon awards (awarded on race day):

  • Grandmasters male and female

Age group awards will be mailed to the top three finishers in each age division:

  • 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89 and 90+

5K awards (awarded on race day):
