2022 MAY MIDWEEK MILE & DASH

The Midweek Mile & Dash is a FREE youth event designed for kids ages 14 and under. This event's location is Westside Park, Atlanta's newest and largest greenspace. The timed Mile will run along the park path and is for ages 6 - 14, while the Dashers will run 50 meters in the field near the playground. *NEW* this spring, the dash is now available for all children, ages 14 and under. Dash participants will run with children in their age group for safety.
All participants can have fun in the Track & Field Zone with Atlanta Track Club's elite athletes while parents learn more about our youth events and youth programming in the information tent.
Atlanta Track Club is excited to announce that Microsoft will be joining us at this event and providing two running-related STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) activities for children. Learn more about these activities below and register for a 30-minute session while registering for the event.

MICROSOFT STEM ACTIVITIES
Build Your Own Video Game*
Have you ever wanted to make your own video game?
Participants will develop a running-themed arcade game featuring Atlanta Track
Club's own Pete the Peach. Using MakeCode Arcade, you will be able to create
and then play a video game with no prior coding experience needed. Our beginner
activity will give a high-level overview of coding and is recommended for ages
8-14 years old. All kids will be given a special prize for participating.
Build Your Own Step Counter*
Even the best runners need to be able to track how far they
go! For this activity, participants will develop and create their own step
counter using the micro:bit, a pocket sized computer, to track how many steps
they run. Recommended for ages 8-14 years old. But wait, there's more... all
kids will be able to keep the micro:bit device and accessories for
participating.
*Recommended age is 8 - 14 years old. Each STEM session will last 20-30 minutes and can easily be integrated into your mile or dash schedule. Sessions will be conducted from 5:00 PM - 5:30 PM, and 5:45 PM - 6:15 PM. Participants must pre-register for STEM activities. Race day registration will only be permitted if we have openings.
