2026 Jerome Scales Southside 5 Miler
Kick off the 2026 Grand Prix Series with Atlanta Track Club for the Jerome Scales Southside 5M on January 24 in College Park. Race through the beautiful College Park neighborhood and around Woodward Academy. This event is free and exclusive to Atlanta Track Club members. This event is named for former board member Jerome Scales.
ABOUT JEROME SCALES
Jerome Scales was a longtime member of Atlanta Track Club who served on its Board of Directors for seven years. Diagnosed with tonsil cancer in 2016, he died on June 20, 2019.
Jerome was a fixture in the Atlanta running community, spreading his love for running to anyone nearby. Even after he was diagnosed, he never let the disease deter him from running or from influencing others to do the same. He adopted the motto "one mile at a time," and focused on finding joy in the journey of running regardless of how far or how fast. Learn more about Jerome and Big Rome Running here

Course time limit:
- 5M: 1 hour and 30 minutes (18 minute per mile pace)
For the safety and enjoyment of everyone, pets or wheeled conveyances of any kind, including strollers, roller/inline skates, and bicycles are not permitted on the course. Headphones are discouraged.
Race Number Pickup/Registration
Number Pickup is only available race morning prior to the start of your event at the College Park MARTA station. Look for the string of red Atlanta Track Club tents and other signage. Number Pickup Opens at 6:45 a.m. Bring your check in pass (on your phone or printed) to ease the flow of Number Pickup.

Guest Passes
Each Atlanta Track Club member receives two (2) guest passes they can share with a non-member friend or family member. Timing
Unofficial results available online the afternoon of the event. Results are made official approximately two weeks after the event, after all inquires have been processed.

- Clearly visible on the front of the torso
- Unaltered and unmodified (Do not fold or wrinkle)
- Pinned in all four corners
- Not covered (jackets, fuel belts, etc.)
Atlanta Track Club is a member organization of both the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) & USA Track & Field (USATF) and adheres to the guidelines and rules of competition in the events Atlanta Track Club conducts & provides.

MARTA & Parking
All participants are encouraged to ride MARTA to the event. The race will start & finish on MARTA property. Show your MARTA Breeze card at the Gear Check tent and check your warm clothes for safe keeping until after the event. Open to MARTA passengers only. Awards
Overall and Masters awards are based on gun time, and overall winners and those who earn prize money are not eligible for age group awards. Age group awards are based on net time.

Prize money winners must be an Atlanta Track Club members in order to receive prize money. Physical Awards will be given on site, prize money will be distributed within two weeks.
Age group awards will be available on site for the top three finishers in each age division:
- 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, and 90+ (excluding the overall winners)
