ATLANTA – May 17, 2017 – Six metro Atlanta schools received scholarships and donations this week as part of the fourth annual Peachtree Junior Challenge. Atlanta Track Club awarded the funds on behalf of the Club’s Kilometer Kids youth running program.
Group scholarships were awarded to the three organizations that had the most kids register for the 2017 Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia Peachtree Junior. The scholarships are intended to fund the participating organizations’ future physical activity programs.
The 2017 Peachtree Junior Challenge scholarship recipients are:
International Community School
Gwin Oaks Elementary School
Atlanta Track Club also made $250 donations to three schools that brought groups of 50 or more in an effort to encourage fitness in children: Briarlake Elementary, Dacula Elementary and Fort Daniel Elementary.
The 2017 Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia Peachtree Junior was cancelled due to the threat of severe thunderstorms. The event is held each year at Piedmont Park’s Active Oval in May. Registration for the 2018 event will be available early next year at atlantatrackclub.org.
