ATLANTA -- December 8, 2017 -- Atlanta Track Club and the GATFXCCA will bring back the Georgia Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Clinic for the third time on January 12th and 13th. Hosted once again at Atlanta Track Club’s facility, the two-day event will feature a variety of sessions designed to elevate coaching knowledge and skills.
The weekend’s speaker list includes a range of elite coaches, each with their own area of expertise. Brooks Johnson, Olympic coach of Willie May and Justin Gatlin, along with Gail Devers, the three-time Olympic Champion and 9-time World Champion, will lead sessions on sprints and hurdles. And for the distance coaches, Joe Franklin -- head coach of the reigning women’s cross country National Champions at the University of New Mexico – will offer his insight into building a winning distance program.
Other sessions throughout the clinic will focus on throwing, strength & conditioning, physical therapy, and injury prevention from other local coaches. Sessions will take place inside the Club’s offices or will make use of The Club’s 50m indoor track and pole vault pit.
And after kicking off the clinic on Friday, there will there will be a social designed to give all coaches opportunity to meet, share tips, and build relationships across the sport. If you’re interested, see below for more information about the program and how to register.
