Atlanta’s Finest 5K to Benefit Family of Fallen Officer David Rose

All Registration Proceeds to Support Education Fund

ATLANTA - Aug 14, 2025 - Atlanta Track Club and the Atlanta Police Foundation announced yesterday that 100 percent of registration proceeds from this year's Atlanta's Finest 5K will be donated to a fund supporting the family of DeKalb County Police Officer David Rose, who was recently killed in the line of duty. Officer Rose leaves behind two children and a third expected later this year.

Now in its second decade, the event is held annually to honor the city's law enforcement and public safety officials. This year's event will take place this Saturday, August 16 at Pemberton Place. Registration is available here.

"Atlanta Track Club has long worked with Atlanta Police Foundation and the Atlanta Police Department to support law enforcement as a thank you for the work they do for us and others all year round," said Rich Kenah, CEO of Atlanta Track Club. "It is my hope that at this weekend's Atlanta's Finest 5K, this running community will register en masse. By doing so, we will do our small part to help Officer Rose's family as they and the entire region mourn his loss and recognize him as the hero he is."

In addition to supporting Officer Rose's family this year, the event continues to provide funding for programs like Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta through the Atlanta Police Foundation, which enables citizens to report tips anonymously and support investigations.

"Officer Rose's sacrifice reminds us of the courage it takes to protect and serve," said Dave Wilkinson, President & CEO of the Atlanta Police Foundation. "Thanks to our supporters, we can fund vital public safety programs like Crime Stoppers and stand with our DeKalb County partners as we honor his family and all the officers who ran toward danger to keep us safe."

At the event, participants have the chance to see specialty units from the Atlanta Police Department, including SWAT, Mounted Patrol and landing from the Phoenix One helicopter.

Before the race begins, a moment of silence honoring Officer Rose will be led by a representative from the Atlanta Police Foundation. Brief remarks will follow from Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum, Atlanta Police Foundation President and CEO Dave Wilkinson and Piedmont Healthcare Chief Public Policy Officer Thomas Worthy.

All participants will receive a short sleeve adidas finisher's shirt. For more information and to register, visit the Atlanta Track Club webpage here.
