Registration Set to Open for 52nd AJC Peachtree Road Race

ATLANTA -MARCH 12, 2021 - Beginning Monday, runners and walkers from across metro Atlanta, all over the country and around the globe can lock in their Fourth of July weekend plans. Registration will open on March 15 for a limited-capacity, two-day running of the AJC Peachtree Road Race to be held in-person and virtually on July 3 and 4. The in-person 10K event in Atlanta will implement strict COVID-19 safety measures. Besides the expansion to a two-day event designed to reduce crowd size, participants can expect health screenings, face-covering requirements and limited-contact aid stations as well as limited pre- and post-race gathering. Registration will remain open through May 1.

The capacity for this year's Peachtree has not yet been set, but race organizer Atlanta Track Club expects to offer significantly fewer than the traditional 60,000 spots. Members of the Club will receive guaranteed entry and priority choice of their preferred race day. Non-members will be placed into a lottery and race day preference will be accommodated as spots remain. Atlanta Track Club invites people to join the Club or renew their membership before registering for the Peachtree to immediately receive the Peachtree guarantee benefit.

"This will be a Peachtree like no other," said Rich Kenah, race director of the AJC Peachtree Road Race. "We want to offer the Peachtree community every opportunity to be a part of this race's storied history, but do so in a way that respects the improving but still precarious world we live in with respect to the pandemic." A Virtual Peachtree option is also available and all who choose to take part will receive entry.

Runners and walkers can also guarantee their entry by obtaining a charity number for Atlanta Track Club's Kilometer Kids youth running program. The Club today is also announcing ninenon-profits as charity partners for Peachtree as part of a new initiative. The non-profits will offer entries in exchange for fundraising efforts. The AJC Peachtree Road Race Charity Partner program aims to raise $250,000 in its inaugural year. The non-profits selected for this year's program can be found here.

A complete list of entry options and prices can be found below. Registration will be available on the Atlanta Journal-Constitution website beginning Monday morning.

The Peachtree Health & Fitness Expo presented by Publix will be held over the course of four days − June 26-27 and July 1-2 - at the Georgia World Congress Center. The Club will limit the number of people allowed in the expo hall to ensure 6 feet of distance once inside. There will also be a reduced number of exhibitors. Participants must pick up their race number at the expo or pay for number pickup on race morning. Race numbers and T-shirts will be shipped to virtual participants. There will not be a mailing option for in-person participants, as all must undergo health screenings to participate. Participants may be required to show proof of a recent negative COVID test or that they've been vaccinated. The specific precautions will be determined based on guidance of public health officials and the state of the pandemic at the time of the event. Atlanta Track Club will continue to assess all COVID-19 safety measures as conditions evolve.

Atlanta Track Club fully expects to be running and walking from Lenox Square to Piedmont Park on July 3 and 4. However, the Club will offer refunds to those who registered for the in-person event should the race not be held due to COVID-19.

The annual Peachtree Junior will be held Friday, July 2 in Piedmont Park. The race consists of a mile and dash and is open to children ages 14 and under. Registration for Peachtree Junior will also open Monday.
