Why was the decision made to move the AJC Peachtree Road Race to Thanksgiving Day?
Much like the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving is a day when families come together. It is also the biggest running holiday of the entire year. When evaluating alternative dates for the Peachtree, Atlanta Track Club realized the day offered many advantages falling on a holiday. Putting on the world's largest 10K involves having the support of the City and the communities we run through. A holiday allows us to conduct the race while minimizing impacts on local business as most retailers are closed on Thanksgiving morning.
What mitigation efforts are being made in order to protect participants, volunteers, spectators and staff?
As it has been for 55 years, health and safety is Atlanta Track Club's top priority. COVID-19 has pushed us to review our best practices and protocols in the areas of event and program safety. Fewer participants on each start line, longer separation between waves, reimagining fluid stations and working with MARTA to get people to and from the event and the effectiveness of the use of masks and gloves are just some of the topics we will be addressing in the coming weeks and months. As the COVID-19 situation evolves and changes, we will make decisions based on the advice and information the Club receives from health experts.
What will Atlanta Track Club be doing on July 4?
Information on how the Club will be making this traditionally celebratory day special this year will be announced at a later date.
What if the Peachtree cannot be held on Thanksgiving?
The decision to move the AJC Peachtree Road Race to Thanksgiving Day was made to allow the best opportunity to keep the Peachtree tradition going in 2020. As the situation surrounding COVID-19 evolves daily, Atlanta Track Club will continue to work with local officials and health experts to assess the impact on its events and programs and offer any new options and considerations.
I registered for the AJC Peachtree Road Race in March and I'm excited for the Thanksgiving Day new race date. Do I need to do anything?
No action is required. You are now registered for the Peachtree on November 26, 2020. If you selected the delivery option, your number will be shipped in November. If you chose to pick up your number at the Peachtree Health & Fitness Expo you can pick it up on November 23, 24 or 25. Click here for expo details. See you in November.
What if I do not want to participate in the race on Thanksgiving Day? What are my options?
The window for registration options closed on May 15. A race number transfer system will open in the fall in which participants can transfer their number to another person. Participants may also defer their entries to 2021. However, they will have to pay for registration in 2021.
How will the second registration period for the Peachtree work?
Atlanta Track Club Members with a membership valid as of February 1, 2020 will have an opportunity to register for the race starting August 31 by logging into their membership account via Chronotrack. Registration will remain open until 11:59 p.m. EST on September 6.

During registration, event participants are permitted to submit a time from a past race between January 1, 2018 and March 31, 2020on a USATF certified course 5K or 10K distance only. We do not accept virtual results or split times. Registrants will be placed in the appropriate start wave based on their time submitted during registration. Those that do not submit a time will be randomly placed in one of the last start waves. You cannot change or add a qualifying time after your registration has been submitted. Click here for more on start wave placement details.
Will the time I submit for start wave placement be verified?
Yes, all times submitted for start wave placement will be verified by Atlanta Track Club. If your time is not correct or cannot be verified, you will be randomly placed in one of the last start waves. Your name in registration must match your name in the results that you submit for verification.

No, qualifying times have already been verified.
I am going to run a race between now and the second registration period. May I submit that time after I register?
No. To maintain a level of fairness to all participants regardless of the availability of races in their area, Atlanta Track Club has decided to leave the qualifying window the same for 2020. You may only use a race completed between January 1, 2018 and March 31, 2020.
Why are you asking people to submit a finish time from a past race for the Peachtree?
Having a finish time from a past race will help us assign participants to the appropriate start waves. Start waves are organized by performance to create a safe and enjoyable experience as well as to ease congestion at the start, along the course and at the finish.
Do I need to submit a finish time from a past race in order to register for the AJC Peachtree Road Race?

Keep in mind, if you finished the previous two AJC Peachtree Road Races, you can submit that time upon registering for this year's event.
I haven't run a race within the last two years, what should I do?
If you haven't participated in a scored running or walking event from January 1, 2018 to March 31, 2020, you can select No Qualifying Time to Submit from the dropdown menu in registration.

Race day is Thanksgiving Day, won't Lenox Square be busy with shoppers?
Atlanta Track Club is working closely with Lenox Square to make sure your race day experience is enjoyable. Lenox Square hours on race day will be as follows (5:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.) and will not affect race day operations.
How do I get to the start area?
Parking is not available in the start area, so it is advised that you take MARTA. MARTA will begin running at 4:30 a.m. on race day. The Lenox station off of the gold line is the closest station to the start line. Race participants are discouraged from using the Buckhead station as it is not set up to handle the large numbers of people that will be arriving in the start area. Participants using the Buckhead station will also have a more difficult time getting to the start area once the wheelchair and footraces begin.
How do I get back home after the event?
All race participants are highly encouraged to take MARTA after the event since parking in the area surrounding Piedmont Park is limited. If participants are heading South, take 10th Street to Monroe to 8th and walk towards the Midtown station, If participants are heading North, they can exit the park via the 12th Street Gate to MARTA buses that will be staged on Piedmont to carry participants to Lindbergh.

My family has been assigned numbers in different start waves. How can we run together?
If you'd like to run with someone assigned to a different start wave, you may do so by running together in the later start wave. For example, if your number is in Start Wave A and your friend or family member is in Start Wave L, you may run together in Start Wave L. You may not move to an earlier start wave. The start wave that you are assigned is indicated on your race number.
How are start wave standards determined?
Start wave standards serve as a guideline each year to determine wave placement. Start wave standards are determined based off the range of qualifying times submitted during registration. During the verification and assignment process, it may be necessary to adjust the standards from the previous year in order to accommodate the range of qualifying times submitted and the volume of participants within the physical space allotted.

Unofficial race results will be posted on atlantatrackclub.org and ajc.com/peachtree the afternoon of November 26. Results inquiries will be accepted for 30 days after the race. At this time the results will be finalized and made official.
Why do the official results show me running slower than the time I recorded on my watch?
The quality of different GPS units can vary, but all of them can be affected by conditions such as buildings or large crowds that can interfere with reception of satellite signals causing them to be inaccurate. The chip time is your official time.
Are there age group awards?
Age group awards for the top three men and women in each age group (14 & under, five-year increments up to 90+) are mailed to participants after results are finalized thirty days following the event. Awards will be mailed the first week of January 2021.

The most noticeable difference will be the volunteer uniform since the day will be a little cooler. Volunteers will still receive the special AJC Peachtree Road Race volunteer T-shirt, but will wear warmer clothing and a safety vest for visibility and volunteer identification.
