2017 Wingfoot XC Classic

The third annual Wingfoot XC Classic will feature One Mile, 3K and 5K races on grass, dirt and gravel. The course will be a unique single loop with traditional European cross country elements such as hay bales or logs. There will be two sessions. High school races will be held in the morning. The evening session will feature the free One Mile as part of the Kilometer Kids Youth Running Series, the community 5K which is part of the Grand Prix Series presented by Piedmont Healthcare and the 3K middle school races.

Unattached individuals can register for the middle school 3K (ages 10-14) races below ($10).

Registration for the One Mile (ages 7-14) is free for all participants.

Registration for the 5K (ages 8 and up) is free to Atlanta Track Club members and $10 for non members.

Online registration for the Kilometer Kids Mile opens August 23 and closes September 21, 2017 at 11:59 p.m.

Race Day registration for the Kilometer Kids Mile is available onsite beginning at 5:30 p.m. Deadline to register and be timed is 6:30 p.m.

Middle School Unattached

Online registration for the Middle School Unattached 3K opens August 23 and closes September 21, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. No race day registration.

Community 5K registration

Online registration for the Community 5K opens August 23 and closes September 21, 2017 at 11:59 p.m.

Race Day registration for the Community 5K is available onsite beginning at 5:30 p.m. Deadline to register and be timed is 6:30 p.m.

The 5K is part of Atlanta Track Club's 2017 Grand Prix Series presented by Piedmont Healthcare and is free for Atlanta Track Club members/$10 for non-members.

TIMING & RESULTS

The race will be professionally chip timed with timing mats at every mile in addition to the finish line. The race will be NFHS and GHSA sanctioned for Georgia schools and other states upon request.

Atlanta Track Club is a member organization of both the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) & USA Track & Field (USATF) and adheres to the guidelines and rules of competition in the events Atlanta Track Club conducts & provides.

COURSE

Community race course time limit:

5K: 1 hour and 15 minutes (25 minute per mile pace)

For the safety and enjoyment of all participants, no headphones, pets, or wheeled conveyances of any kind, including baby joggers/strollers, roller/inline skates, and bicycles, are permitted on the course.

CHAMPIONSHIP RACE SELECTION

Up to 35 teams will be selected to run in the Championship Varsity Races. Selection committee will announce the teams no later than September 19. Coaches are asked to submit preference, but race comittee reserves the right to place teams in the best interest of the meet.

AWARDS

School Team Awards-Top 10 finishers from races will receive medals, and Top 10 Championship Varsity runners will also receive a t-shirt. Top 3 teams in Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Middle School races will receive a team award.

Community Awards- Overall male, female, masters male, and masters female. Age group awards for the top three men and women in each age group (14 & under, five-year increments up to 90+)

WINGFOOT CUP

Scoring has changed from 2016. The Wingfoot Cup will be awarded to the team with the most points across the Boys and Girls Championship Varsity Divisions only. Points will be distributed using the following scale. Milton is the current two-time defending champion of this award.

1^st - 10 pts, 2^nd - 8 pts, 3^rd - 6 pts, 4^th - 5 pts, 5^th - 4 pts, 6^th - 3 pts, 7^th - 2 pts, 8^th - 1 pt

PARKING

Wingfoot XC Classic Parking Map

Parking available at the race site for $5.00 CASH per car. Additional FREE parking will be available offsite at Cartersville Primary School, Cartersville Elementary School and the Deerfield Practice Fields.

Bus Parking available for FREE on site.

Limited parking is available; carpooling is encouraged.

EVENING SESSION

This year's community 5K will take place at night, under the lights! All community 5K participants will receive a complimentary BBQ sandwich from Johnny Mitchell's Smokehouse. They will also be on site with additional items for purchase such as BBQ plates, pulled pork and cherry smoked chopped chicken and sides such as slaw and baked beans. In addition, we'll have live music from the Duke Brothers Band. Brothers Ivan and Noel Duke, with a host of friends, will play the music they grew up on including Bluegrass, Country, Southern and Classic Rock and Blues. Come enjoy an evening of barbeque and bluegrass amongst bales of hay!

The Wingfoot XC Classic is the ninth event in the 2017 Atlanta Track Club Grand Prix Series presented by Piedmont Healthcare. For more information on the 2017 Grand Prix Series, please click here. Please note: Your age on December 31, 2017 is used as your base age for Grand Prix scoring. For example, if you are currently 34 years old but will be turning 35 in November, your age will appear as 35 in the standing throughout the Grand Prix season.
