Atlanta Track Club appreciates your interest in and support of the AJC Peachtree Road Race and strives to meet the coverage needs of all media. Please carefully read the following instructions for credentialed media on July 4, 2018. Failure to comply with any official race instructions could result in the inability to cover the event and possible revocation of your credential.
***IMPORTANT CHANGE FOR 2018: Bag Policy***
For each credential you have been issued, you have been given a corresponding. This bright yellow tag must be affixed to any bag brought into the start and/or finish areas. Any bag without this tag will be confiscated by security and not available for pick-up until July 10. There are no exemptions to this policy and it will be strictly enforced. All bags are subject to search.
Start Line Parking – Media may park live trucks and other vehicles in the Lenox Square Mall surface parking lot directly in front of Nike Town. The parking lot must be accessed from Lenox Parkway.
All media that have been granted parking at the start line must arrive NO LATER THAN 4:00 a.m. For security purposes, no vehicles will be allowed to enter after this time. Vehicles may be parked the evening of July 3. All vehicles must be cleared by 10:00 a.m. on July 4.
Finish Line Parking – If you have been assigned to a parking lot at the finish line, you MUST park in the lot to which you were assigned. Please email names of the drivers associated with your vehicles to [email protected] no later than Wednesday, June 27 at 5:00 p.m. All vehicles must be parked by 5:30 a.m. on July 4. For security purposes, no vehicles will be allowed to enter after this time. Addresses to the parking lots are as follows:

Live Truck Finish Line Parking – Live trucks will be permitted to park in the gravel lot on 10th Street near Grady High School ONLY. There is NO parking on Charles Allen Drive in 2018 at the request of emergency services. Live trucks must be in place by 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3. They will be permitted to exit the lot by 12:00 p.m. on July 4 when runners are clear from 10th Street.
Media - The Media Credential allows access to the designated media areas at the start area and designated platforms and work space in the finish area. This credential also provides access along the side of the course. Media must stay off the road/course at all times. The Media Credential does not allow access to the athlete warm-up area at the start, press truck, medical areas, and athlete hospitality area/awards ceremony at the finish, photographer only areas or any other restricted areas.
***NEW THIS YEAR: The women’s elite field starts at 6:50 a.m. followed by the men’s elite field at 7:00 a.m. There is a separate press truck for the women’s and men’s elite field. You must be on your assigned press truck no later than 10 minutes before that field’s start time.***
Press Truck Media - The Press Truck Media Credential allows access to the same areas listed for the Media Credential as well as the Men’s or Women’s Press Truck. The Press Truck Media Credential does not allow access to the athlete warm-up area at the start, medical areas, athlete hospitality area/awards ceremony at the finish, photographer only areas or any other restricted areas. There is limited availability on both press trucks. Press trucks will load on Stratford Road adjacent to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Load times are as follows:
Women’s press truck: 6:35 a.m.
Men’s press truck: 6:50 a.m.
Please be at the location no later than the above times to ensure you are on the trucks.
Photographer - Small platforms will be provided at the start line and finish line for a select number of photographer requests. The Photographer Credential will be given in addition to one of the Media Credentials above. The Photographer Credential allows access to the same areas listed for the Media Credential as well as the Photographers Only platform located in the median just before the start line and the Photographers Only area just before the finish line. The Photographer Credential does not allow access to the athlete warm-up area at the start, medical areas, athlete hospitality area/awards ceremony at the finish or any other restricted areas.
Finish Line Media Operations:
Media Compound – Small tents with tables right behind the finish line will be available as well as a large, air conditioned tent in the gravel lot located at the corner of 10th St. and Charles Allen Dr. by Grady High School. The main tent will have a live broadcast of the race, Wi-Fi, tables, chairs and power. It will be staffed by Atlanta Track Club media personnel. It will also have complimentary bagels, fruit, coffee and water. Portable toilets will be available in the gravel lot. The media compound will close at 12:30 p.m. on July 4.
Elite Athlete Interviews – All elite athlete interviews will be conducted inside the large media tent in our mixed zone. The top three male and female finishers will be sent to the tent to be interviewed and will remain in place until all interviews wrap. Special requests for athletes outside the top three can be requested from Atlanta Track Club’s media team. Street level elite athlete interviews will only be permitted to broadcast rights holders.
Awards Ceremony & Post-Race Press Conference – The awards ceremony and post-race press conference will be held inside Park Tavern in the Piedmont Room. Only media who have the Piedmont Room designation on their credential will be allowed to attend. Media will need to enter Park Tavern through the front door located on the Monroe Dr. side of the building. The wheelchair awards will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by the footrace awards at 9:30 a.m. Media will be allowed to ask questions at the ceremony and conduct one-on-one interviews afterwards. Awards include top three in the overall and masters categories as well as Top Georgian.
