The 52nd Running of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race will take place over two days, July 3 - July 4, 2021. You can find more details on the event here. The 40th Running of the Shepherd Center Wheelchair Division and the USATF 10km Championships will both take place on the 2nd of our two days of Peachtree, July 4.
Due to COVID-19, there will be limited opportunities for non-partner media to cover this year's event. Credential applications are open today through 5 p.m. on June 18, 2021.
Please read the descriptions of the areas accessible to media as well as rules and notes specific to 2021 before completing the credential application. If you are unable to attend the race in person, please let me know and I will work with you to get materials to enhance your coverage remotely.
Non-partner media will be given a designated space on the sidewalk on the south side of Peachtree Road. No media will be allowed next to the start line or in the start wave corrals.. There will be space, however, for all television outlets with close proximity to the start line offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Live truck parking will be available in the Lenox Square lot directly below the designated media area to allow for the shortest possible cable run. All vehicles must access this lot via Lenox Parkway and be in place by 4 a.m. on both race days.
START PHOTO PLATFORM:
Access to the start platform will be granted to still photographers only. Non-partner television cameras and videographers are not permitted on the start platform due to broadcast rights restrictions. Still photographers not employed by Atlanta Track Club or its media partners will not have access to the ground at the start line. The vantage point from this platform includes the entire start line.
Limited space on the press trucks is available for still photographers only. Non-partner television cameras and videographers are not permitted on the press trucks due to broadcast rights restrictions. Press trucks are only available for the USATF 10km Championships on July 4. There will be one press truck for both the men's and women's start.
Non-partner media will be given access to the northside of the Charles Allen Drive and 10th Street intersection immediately prior to the finish line. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, no non-partner media will be permitted immediately beyond the finish line on 10th Street. This is a change from past years where media was given an area adjacent to 11Alive. Live truck parking is available on Charles Allen Drive. Please note, there is no media center or media workspace in 2021 due to COVID-19 restrictions and construction at Midtown High School.
A post-race awards ceremony will be conducted on 10th Street following the completion of the USATF 10km Championship. Top finishers in the men's and women's footrace and Shepherd Center Wheelchair Division will be awarded. Space is limited to two people per media outlet.
All credentialed media will be asked to provide proof of vaccination or fill out an online COVID-19 Screening Questionnaire. Those who do not provide proof of vaccination will be asked to wear a mask.
Parking will be limited to two spaces per outlet in 2021. Details on the location of the media parking lot will be included in your credential confirmation. This confirmation will also include a schedule of race week events for credentialed and non-credentialed media.
